Pro2 Photoshoot- Inspiration & Final Product!

Hello Everyone!
I have been mulling over what I should make my next post. And I have decided on my final product from my Pro2 makeup class. At the end of each course at my beauty school we are given a photographer who takes photo's of the makeup we do on the last day. This gives us photo's to put into our "coffee table book"/resume ( what we show clients ). It's also a project and we are marked on everything-- including all the work up to that point (like the face chart and all the planning). First let's look at the photo's that inspired me for my project. :)

( I really wanted to make a flower crown for the final product, but I ran out of time. Womp Womp Womp.)

I decided on gold eyeliner as I was inspired by Cinna in the Hunger Games. This is when I decided to try it out on myself ( the top liner only ).
I used the gold from my Makeup Forever flash palette, sealed it with Mac's Goldmine eyeshadow. I then used NYX's gold glitter liner on top to make it 3D.

I would have loved to share with you what my face chart looked like. Unfortunately I have lost it!

Here is the final product:

My lovely friend Maija was kind enough to model for me.
Anyways I hope you enjoyed this and happy long weekend!

girls night in

girls night in

girls night in by kenzi-alex featuring a lacy camisole

I am not sure about you girls (and boys) but I have been feeling really nostalgic about all the fun sleepovers I had as a kid/teenager. I really miss just hanging out watching movies/TV shows, doing our nails and sipping on tea. Its such a nice way to bond and relax after a long day. I decided to go to on polyvore and make a set of what I would love to have for my perfect girls night in. A pampering and relaxing bonding experience for my friends and I.

Beauty: Some favorites

collective photo of all the products I am going to talk about. Not the best quality, sorry! All photos are taken on my Iphone.

This Laura Mercier hand cream is a present I got from my mum last winter while I was at my cottage at a "girls getaway" that lasted almost a month (the getaway...not the cream.) I believe it's a pistachio cream, but I am not sure as the entire packaging is in french and dude... I can't read french. The scent is something really different and not like any other I have ever smelt. So as soon as I crack this baby open the smell brings back all the memories of the girls getaway and it's a really good feeling.
This toner is one of my favorites of all time. It was the only one in the drugstore that didn't have any alcohol. It's very gentle and certainly something I have been reaching for a lot as of late.
I have an obsession with chapstick. I need one with me at all times. I have been reaching for this one a lot recently. I think this is pretty easy to find. Good ol' cherry chapstick never disappoints. I believe I picked this up in the US during my road trip last summer.
This is a product that I got for free from an event that Elle Magazine hosted a few months ago. John Frieda's Luxurious volume. "Fine to full blowout spray". I love spraying this in my hair after a shower. It smells amazing too!
This is an ABSOLUTE must have for me. I am in beauty school (currently on break for summer). But while I was in class we had to take our makeup on and off constantly throughout the day as we were using each other as models. I ended up getting a rash under my eye from the remover I was using. My school sells Makeup Forever products in the school store so I bought it on a recommendation from my teacher. It's a little expensive, but completely worth the price. I haven't broken out, had teary eyes or anything while using this. It's so gentle and perfect for my sensitive skin and eyes!
Mac's "all that glitters" eyeshadow. I bought this for a job. I was hired to do someone's prom makeup and needed a nice gold. I have been using this a lot on myself as I have been going through a boho faze and it went perfectly with my outfits and what have you that I have been wearing recently.
The urban decay NAKED basics palette. This has been pretty perfect for when I am on the go. It's so small it fits perfectly in my purse so I can do my makeup in the car.
A shot of the palette open. The colors are (from left to right) : Venus, Foxy, w.o.s, naked2, faint, crave.
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain. I love these things. They make your lips glossy but also give a surprising amount of color. They have a Mint scent/taste and I can't recommend it enough! pictured is the color 015 "cherish devotion". Which is a purple-y light pink ( that's very bright in my opinion).
And for a nail polish, I chose Revlon's 510 "sassy" a bright green. It was hard to choose just one nail color as I have been obsessing over nails recently, but I decided on this one because it's something I never would have thought i'd like. It really surprised me and made me go out of my comfort zone with something I normally would have never chosen or worn at all.

I hope everyone is enjoying their day and I will be back with something new when inspiration strikes!

Nails: What I've been wearing!

Hello Lovies!
So I have been changing up my polish every couple days recently. I have been taking photos on my phone of the colours and I can't wait to share what i've been wearing! I also have been doing my toes-- less frequently, but still. But I (personally) find looking at peoples toes a little ,um, unpleasant. So let's get on with this!
So, this first picture is of ORLY'S "catch the bouquet" and on top (the larger sparkles) is ORLY'S " you are not alone". This is basically when my nail craze started. I picked both of these colours up at Winners.
I was SO excited about these Art Deco nail art polishes. They don't have exciting names (Dark blue, bright orange and black) But I thought i'd show them because they correlate to the next photo.
This was my first ever attempt at nail art. it worked out pretty well, I think. The white is NYC'S "Little Italy". and the blue on my pinkie is Essie in "where's my chauffeur".

This is Zoya's "Lolly". Which dries matte, I thought that was pretty cool but I had to add a top coat for the shine! It made it stand out 20X more.
This is Revlons "sassy" which is a bright green. I've had it in my collection for a few months but never tried it as I never gravitated towards it. ( I got it as a present ). I decided to try it out and ended up LOVING it. More than I thought would be possible.
This is OPI's  "William tell me about OPI" I realize the application is a little shoddy. The silver lines are nail art "bedazzlements" (or whatever you want to call them, I really don't know) I ended up really disliking them because of how far out they stick.

This is an OPI colour, but I am not sure what it's called?? I got it on sale and someone had peeled the colour's name off. Its a bright yellow-y orange. The black dots are nail art "gems" (??? I have no idea if that's what you actually call them.) Basically little bedazzling pieces of plastic that I picked up in Kensington Market. I ended up being okay with these ones as they weren't quite as imposing as the gems in the last picture.
This is what I am wearing today. It's Sinful Colors in "24/7". On the ring finger I put ORLY'S "you are not alone" on top. NEON NEON NEON! I basically never go for bright colours (thats what my mum always reaches for) but I thought i'd give it a go and it's been a pleasant surprise. Actually looks pretty cool. My nails are basically highlighter tips!

Thats basically everything I have been wearing on my fingers! Thanks for reading, will post more when inspiration strikes!

Nail polish craze: newest Essie picks

I have been buying a lot of nail polish recently. Redoing my nails almost every day... It's a little crazy! I have never really been a "nail polish girl" but in the last couple weeks I have been more inspired to do my nails than my makeup. Which is crazy talk. Without further introduction here are my newest purchases from Essie!

This is a swatch ( not my own picture ) of Essies " Wheres my chauffeur " from their winter collection. Its a bright teal colour that I think works really well for the summer!
This is a swatch ( not my own picture ) of Essies " nothing else metals " which is from their metallic collection. Its a lilac metallic and I think its so beautiful! it reminds me of fairy wings and being in a magical garden (whatever that even means....ya.) I personally find it a little overwhelming on its own, but maybe painting one finger nail as an accent would be what i'd use it for.

I will post more "nail polish craze" hauls when I get back into my room and write down the names of the other polishes I recently picked up.

Introduction

Hello, Hello!
I will be posting all my lifestyle & beauty blog posts here. I am really excited to start this new blog! I am currently on summer break from beauty school. I feel so lucky to be in a school that I actually like... for the first time in my life I am learning things that I actually care about! I wake up in the morning excited about what the day will bring. On here I will be discussing what I am learning in school. Reviews for products, Hauls, fashion.... whatever I am inspired by at the moment!
I hope that this will be a place that I can look back on and remember different products ( etc ) so I can catalogue what I will and won't be using in my career as a makeup artist.

Enjoy and check back frequently!
